Mission

Camp Smiles’ mission is to provide high quality, engaging, summer programming for children in Horry County with rare medical conditions, such as Cerebral Palsy and Down Syndrome. Our focus is not intended to exclude any child, but rather to provide opportunities for the children in our area with the least support. Therefore, Camp Smiles’ priority is to provide camp for children who do not have a specialized camp opportunity in our area for their diagnosis.

Camp Smiles is staffed with counselors that are Special Education majors from Coastal Carolina University and other area Universities as well as teachers from Horry and Georgetown Counties.

Camp

Each week camp introduces a theme. The theme is carried across all aspects of the camp day; all class activities are themed centered. Each day the campers rotate to 4 different activities: Literacy, Movement, Music and Art. Volunteers and Peers from the Campers’ communities are invited to join us during our theme weeks.
